Grow Tips: Grows well in a partially shaded location with average, well-drained soil. Annabelle can be grown in full sun but must have consistent moisture. Intolerant of drought, the foliage will decline in dry conditions. It can be used in a rain garden. Because smooth hydrangeas bloom on new wood the entire plant can be pruned back to the ground in late winter but we suggest pruning back to 2′ or 1/3 the height of the plant to keep it looking fresh for the next season.
