Fun Family Activities to Help the Bees This June
At Cropley’s Garden Center, we believe gardening is better when it brings families together. This June, invite the kids outdoors to help pollinators—and have a little fun while you’re at it!
🌼 1. Plant a Pollinator Patch
Give each child a container or small garden bed and let them plant zinnias, sunflowers, or marigolds. These bright, kid-friendly flowers are easy to grow and attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
🐝 2. Build a Bee Hotel
Gather bamboo sticks, paper straws, or old blocks of wood and drill holes to create a cozy space for solitary bees. Place your bee hotel near flowering plants and watch for visitors!
🔍 3. Go on a Pollinator Scavenger Hunt
Make a list of local pollinators—bees, butterflies, beetles, and hummingbirds—and head outside with the kids to spot as many as you can. Let them draw what they see or keep a nature journal.
